Content & Curriculum for Educational Goals, Instruction, and Assessment
LEARNER IN CONTEXT - This course is designed for 5th graders in urban China. Students are aged between 10-12 and come from differentiated social-economic status families, which means they have different explosion levels of music. This education design goes for 6 week, 12 lessons and altogether 8 hours. All the classes are given in school, at the music classroom.
INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN - This course consists of instructional elements as follow: 1) singing practice; 2) learning a new song; 3) musical game design; 4) group activity for practicing the learnt song; 5) in-class formative knowledge assessment and 6) chorus concert
BIG IDEAS & EDUCATIONAL DESIGN PRINCIPLES- The instructional design is based on big ideas and educational design principles as follow: 1) establish social supportive environment; 2) provide ample opportunities for deliberate practice; 3) follow learners' developmental sequences and stages; 4) aise essential questions; 5) link instructor goal with learner goals and 6) make smart assessment.
