Cooperate with Dr. Parth Vaishnav @ CMU Department of Engineering & Public Policy
INTENTION & FOCUS - I created an intelligent tutor to help students in Professor Vaishnav’s Physical Climatology course at Carnegie Mellon University. We were given the task of creating a tutor to help students better understand the problem of radiative heat transfer and to help them develop intuition behind surface temperature and number of layers in the atmosphere, especially as it is highly relevant to the pressing issue of climate change.
METHOLOGY - I conducted Cognitive Task Analysis (CTA) with Dr. Vaishnav and found out the expert view and strategyof the problem, as well as think-aloud with students and figured out novices' difficulties in learning.
PERSONAL-ADAPTED INTELLIGENT TUTOR MODEL - I built up the intelligent tutor based on the CTA foundings. I defined personalized Knowledge Component Model thus broke down the tutor into reasonable steps to help students better understand and solve the 0-layer and 1-layer Radiative Heat Transfer Problem.
